Therefore, the ice on the lake is transparent, like glass. The rays of the sun are refracted through the ice and create a fantastic atmosphere for us:

A recent laser test on lake Baikal, preformed by FECORE, set a world record at 7 km and the laser was measured across 12 km shortly after. The test showed the surface of water is completely FLAT and does not conform to a sphere of 6371 KM radius. Details of the test can be found at FECORE.org .
