Visiting Maya

Shkaret (translated from the Maya language - "small bay") is the unique and most popular national park of Mexico, on the Caribbean coast of the country. It is located on the federal highway Cancun Chetumal near the town of Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo.

I managed to visit this park. I stayed there all day, from morning till evening. There are a lot of interesting things to talk about, but today I would like to stop at a show organized by the organizers of the park, dedicated to the history of Mexico. Even, rather, not a show, but the scenery of this show.

I must say that the territory of the park is quite large and, as in any entertainment park, there are venues for different shows. These events are held on a specific schedule. Somewhere in an hour, somewhere in 3 hours. You can read the schedule on bulletin boards, in booklets or on the park's website. But it's not that ... Every day, closer to the evening, there is a big show devoted to the culture of Maya.

When it began to darken, like most of the visitors to the Shkaret Park, we began to move to the main hall, in which there should be a show. And suddenly I noticed in the bushes, in the shadow of a stationary war standing. I even winced with surprise. He stood, black, in the blackened bushes in the dark, almost naked, with a stone ax in his hand and ornamented faces. A little further away stood one more. Then there were more, already lit by the light of torches.

Surprisingly, it touched me. It would seem, I understand - they are actors of the local show. But something was in them, daring, bestial ... Something that me, the northern man, dipped into the feeling that I was in a movie about Conan, who is a barbarian, or in the adventures of Indiana Jones.

Little paths poured into one big road that led to the venue of the performance. Indian soldiers became more and more. I had a feeling that we now all will be brought to the place of sacrifice and eaten. At some point from the bushes next to me there was a heartbreaking cry, I even jerked. I stared at the bushes and suddenly realized that it was not bushes - it's a man in an owl suit. He covered himself with his hands-wings and only his eyes are visible. Masking is perfect.

It was a strong impression and I want to share it with you.
