[Baikal 2016] Isle Ogoy at Sunset, Lake Baikal

Isle-Ogoy-at-Sunset-Lake-Baikal-Russia.jpg

In March 2016 I participated in phototour with Yevgen Timashov to famous Lake Baikal. Lake Baikal is a an ancient rift lake located in Southern Siberia in Russia. Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake, containing more water than the North American Great Lakes combined. Also Baikal is the deepest lake in the world - about 1,642 meters deep.

During long Siberian winter Lake Baikal is covered with thick layer of ice. It is a popular destination for photographers around the world because of unique out-worldly looking winter landscapes. Although this trip happened 2 years ago I just started to review and post process photos taken there.

On this photo you can see small Isle Ogoy which looks like a ship frozen into the ice. Enjoy!

Wow great great shot!

I couldt believe my eys while I saw it...this is amazing. I like the way you have included a lower angle in it. A landscape from a worm's eye. This is awesome. Keep clicking. Kudos. Resteemed

Absolutely UNREAL photography!! Are you lying on the ice to get this shot?

@yasminep Thank you! Interesting thing that this is NOT low camera shot. It was shot from normal height - like 1-1.5 meter high - I don't remember exactly. These cracks in the ice are really big - it is not effect from low camera position.

WOW! Awesome to know. Thanks for getting back to me. Looking to improve my photography :-)

крутецкая фотка :)

@litrbooh Спасибо!

This is really great piece, the breaking Crystal Ice is reflecting really beautiful and addon effect in this picture is that rock which is reflecting as some kind of creature. Thanks for sharing.

Stay Blessed.

another great photograph ! Love wide angle photos :) Trying to make enough money on Steemit to get Samyang 12mm :D Have a nice day !

Lake Baikal..... Your another successful and wonderful area cover by your Nikon d810 @ansharphoto

Stunning. I've always wanted to go lake Baikal exactly as you said for the crazy landscapes.

Very nice..

Amazing view, cracks in the ice are huge - must be amazing to hear it on live. Baikal is on my "must visit" destination of photo trips. I was thinking to use Trans-Siberian train. Do You have any experience with this one? Or You got there in some other way?

@photovisions I traveled by airplane from Moscow to Irkutsk and from Irkutsk to Island Olkhon by car with photo tour leader. I don't have experience with Trans-Siberian train

Wow. This amazing

Amazing, it really foes look like a frozen ship!

Very beautiful image..love it..

@ansharphoto What an incredible photo! The island, the sky, the ice all captured perfectly to showcase this winter wonderland! You can almost hear the ice cracking and see the lines running to the island.

Such a splendid shot. It is vividly portraying the uniqueness of the surroundings of the lake. This shot makes a good postcard. @ansharphoto

Beautiful shot. I cannot imagine how you could possibly let it sleep for 2 years before post-processing it!
