Monochrome Photos of the Mekong River (1-bit images)

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

This is a small set of monochrome photos that I took on the Mekong River in Vietnam. I decided to take them in monochrome from the beginning, and I tried to develop them into true monochrome photos, using only black and white.

Normally, grayscale photos and monochrome photos are classified into the same category of black and white images. However, there are subtle differences between them. The crucial difference is the feelings they convey in the shades of black and white.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the set:

A woman trying to start up her boat

This photo makes me remember to a photo in my primary school book.

River harbor

This is the fist photo i apply this technique, the sharpness of this photo made me impressed. Look at the crane and cable, it seems to be drawn by ruler and pen.

Long Xuyen Market

I love the roof, it looks like an AutoCAD drawing.

Black & White or White & Black

Sometimes, a negative photo gives a striking scene.
