You probably won't believe me, but this photo was taken about 20 minutes after the tree in fog and was one ridge line over. The SF Bay Area in California is segregated into microclimates and one of the local newspapers counted over 100 at one point in the greater bay area. My walk crossed from one to another.
Yesterday's walk was pretty unique though. I don't think I've seen that much wild life on of the walks. Yes, I've seen and posted turkeys before. However, I also saw deer and coyotes. Neither of which I was fast enough to snap a picture of. I was surprised because coyotes are rarely out in the day like that around here. I surprised one and it dropped its mouse snack when it ran away. These were also smaller than one I saw when I used to live in Lafayette. I saw the lil danger kitten - the skunk! - as well. Every 2 meters there was a lizard. Hawks and other birds made their presence known. I encountered a large number of rabbits. Of course, the squirrels were about.
One of the interesting shots though was this one. The turkeys made sure to stay in the shadow. I'm not sure how it helped them, but that they did. The stumps are eucalyptus trees that were cut down. They're another invasive species and can cause major fire problems.
Given the bad news I got later in the day - a job I really, really wanted, I didn't get - perhaps this was nature's way of attempting to balance it all out.
