This footage was captured with a modified Canon 70D DSLR. The Camera's IR/UV cut filter was removed from the camera by Spencer's Cameras, The same technician who has modified several DSLR cameras for NASA astronauts who have sent back some of the most amazing photos captured from The International Space Station.
The filter that I am using is a 950nm wide band filter which is allows very little visible light through to the camera sensor, if any. So this footage, if not for the camera sensor is technically at a wavelength, or wavelengths that are not visible to the human eye.
This is not the same type of infrared which you may be use to. The process is actually capturing Near Infrared Light. Which is not as high in the light spectrum as infrared used in temperature based imaging equipment like firemen and the military uses.
Anyway I hope you have enjoyed my time lapse. This was my first Near Infrared Time Lapse and I look forward to experimenting more with this process.
Peace out!
