After I Had Climbed Grouse Mountain in Vancouver in 54 Mins & Recovered a Bit.

in photography •  7 years ago  (edited)

The top of Grouse, overlooking backdrop of the beautiful Vancouver area.... that is the city behind me.

I had just hiked the mountain before this was taken, and that 54 mins. is an epic time to hike that in. I trained to get er done so after I would feel less pain and challenge myself.

-- If you search "Grouse Grind', you will see what I mean- it is legendary.

I used it as a cardio workout, and was in really good shape. It was probably the toughest thing cardio wise I may have done ever.

Most people take ~4 hours to walk this thing, but I gave er'.

-- Olympic athletes train there.

Please note -- I will have limited internet access for awhile -- so PLEASE do not be upset that I cannot reply right away, or to everyone. I am dealing with some changes, and will have limited time online and will be happy if I get a few blog posts up a week.
This has really upset some people but I do not force my opinions on others, or need to communicate every detail of my life or issues, most people do not care anyways. I invested around 10 hours or more a day on Steemit most of my first 13 mths here, I just do not have that time in my life right now, and that includes for replies and voting/curation.
I have done my best, sorry if you do not understand like some are clearly having a problem with. It's a blogging platform, and I will do my best at everything, and to keep blogging.

Wow, great! You should be proud of yourself! Once I've climbed the mountain in the Carpathians which is 1110 m, but it took so much time, not your 54 minutes)) I like the feeling while reaching the top. It's like when you set a goal in your life and do your best to achieve it in the nearest time. For me it is the same. And at the top you begin to be proud of what you've done. I think you understand what I'm talking about. Well done!!))

I do understand!

TY for the good comments today and congrats on getting on top of that mountain, good for you!

Climbing up the mountain is not easy, only people who have a big physical that menyanggupinya. you are one of them. success for you.

Thanks man.

From that view, you will definitely feel top of the world. I had to google "Grouse Mountain" to find out how high it is, the height is quite amazing.

It is true, it was amazing up there, and good on you for looking that up.

-- it's pretty tall LOL

I'm speaking from experience lol.. I once climbed a mountain so high (not as high as that though). I thought I wouldn't make it down. It's all for fun anyways.

I will be honest.

I lived at the foot of this mountain for awhile just before I head north to mountains twice as high in Whistler about an hour N. of here.

Locals told me more than once, people die climbing this hill in all seasons, on Grouse and they have to send out rescue crews and helicopters regularly to find them, pull them out --- sometimes not alive.

Climbing some of these mountains is quite risky. But sometimes I wonder "what is like without some risks?" After thinking about that I perform the action on my mind. Hope you had fun there?

Beautiful there!

It's yuge.

My comments in the replies about people not making it out alive, stand true.

Wow that is insane. Brave journey!

@barrydutton
You an amazing fellow ...such climb in 50min is a feat worthy of Guinness book! How did you do it...what's the secret and any after leg cramps or body pains ..however you look great ...keep it up💪👏

I was always in good shape but I rode hills extra hard on my bike leading up to this and trained leg and core specific for a month in a gym for 2 weeks prior as well.

Haaa...good one...we need a documentary to show Guinness book that steemians are taking over the world...💪🙌

Very beautiful 😊😚😎💪🙈

I took the cable car when I visited Vancouver, I do like that the path up was made by just people, it wasn't like an official thing

There are 2-3 paths up the mountain.

After you hike it all the way up, LMK then how official you think it is LOL.

-- it does not matter who put the paths in, it's pretty awesome.

nice pic and write up.. i'm new here please kindly check my blog and follow me thanks...

Impressive...keep striving for greatness and push your limits! Those views look incredible..thanks for sharing.

I love mountine climbing. In our country there are so many beautiful mountains. I used to go there couple of times a year but now I moved and I can't go there so often. I miss it though.

I hope this post reminds you of good days and inspires you to try something else you will be challenged by or want to do.

(:

Sure does. Thank you.

Way to go Barry. Doing the climb in record time! Was there someone in a pizza delivery car in front of you while you made the trek? Haha! 🐓

No but this was one of the days they were filming for the movie SHOOTER that Mark Wahlberg was in, everyone has seen that one LOL, I spent the whole day up there, ate in the restaurant etc.

I did not even take a shirt that day, just my camera on my hip, a collapsible water bottle and a bandana and a watch.

If you want to see me with the shirt on, I posted a good one a couple mins ago LOL with me and a bunch of politicians I spoke to.

(:

good

Ahhh the grouse grind! Impressive that you tackled it so quickly. I did the grind once about 10 years ago... but I definitely didn’t comeplete it in 54 minutes! 😳

I actually didn’t really know what it was when some friends invited me to do it with them. I was cursing them by the top!

LOL, I was wondering if you would stop by.

God bless your friends hahahahaha!

Impressive...Good continuation :)

Impressionnant... Bonne continuation :)

Thanks!!

Good job man, are you from Vancouver?

No, I was at the end of a 6 month mission trip and basically was on vacation and travelled and lived in about 10 communities around BC for 3 mths or so.

Oh really nice! How did you like it overall?
I was there for almost 2 years from 2015

Good post, I am a photographer, it passes for my blog and sees my content, I hope that it should be of your taste, you have my vote :D greetings

While other people do it in 4 hours, you did it in 54 minutes?
