I recently moved out to a more rural part of the United States and this has started becoming more appealing.
It is countryside, but not overly countryside (i.e. I should be able to hook up a new home both sewer and electric).
I was wondering, has anybody done this? Is it easy to do?
The idea of building something myself (something I never had the resources/time/etc. to do in the city) really appeals to me, but I worry that it is overly complicated, expensive, etc.
Whoever has done this, what are some pointers I should keep in mind?
Can I get recycled materials from nearby construction sites (again I live in a rural though not too rural area) or do I have to purchase all materials.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want a modern home in the country.
