Biolume_Astro.jpg

Happy Friday!!!⠀
Composite image of a bio luminescent wave crashing on the shores of Nelsons Beach in Jervis Bay and a close-up of the Milky Way core. Both photo's were taken on the same night however the core had risen much higher by the time I managed to capture this wave crashing. ⠀
The sky is 25 photo's stacked for noise reduction and the foreground is a single image.⠀

The blue glow(Bio-Luminescense) is created by a type of phytoplankton called Noctiluca Scintillans or Sea Sparkle, it is common to Jervis Bay, Australia and can be seen several times a year.
Bioluminescence is the production and emission of light by a living organism. It is a form of chemiluminescence. Bioluminescence occurs widely in marine vertebrates and invertebrates, as well as in some fungi, microorganisms including some bioluminescent bacteria and terrestrial invertebrates such as fireflies. In some animals, the light is bacteriogenic, produced by symbiotic organisms such as Vibrio bacteria; in others, it is autogenic, produced by the animals themselves.

OMG this is truly amazing! You even captured those glowing i-dunno-what-they-are-actually-but-looks-magical blueish lights in the waves! Breathtaking :D

Hahaha thanks so much :)

Great!!

I've heard of this but have never seen it actually, so I guess I have to say thank you for sharing this amazing photo. it's not every day that you can see such a beauty. Nice work, I love the blue.

Thanks @erikah :) Glad you love it. I hope you'll come across it one day in your travels it really is a magical thing to experience.

Twenty five photographs stacked sounds like so much work. The results speak for themselves though as it is amazing and beautiful and you are a master at work showing your skills.

Sounds like a lot but once you know how to do it, it's pretty breezy. thanks so much for your kind words.

Wow. That is some super nice work. The sky are too bright around here to get either the milky way or the plankton glow. Is this taken in Australia or Ne Zealand?

Thanks :) Yeah I live a few hours from a major city so we have fantastic dark skies where I am near Jervis bay, Australia.

It is truly an incredible phenomenon! nature always reserves us 1000 surprises !! beautiful photo!
congratulations on the curie vote and thanks for sharing with us

It is amazing and never grows old, it really brings out the inner child whenever I see it :)
Thank you and it is my pleasure to share my adventures with the world.

Incredible stuff from the steemit photography section. If not for the detailing about what it is, how it is captured and for if not for @curie who has selected it as the exception blog I would never realize the importance of this snap.

To be honest I have to google for to know what exactly is bio -luminescent wave One of the best part of steemit, that learning of new stuff) and now I know why this photo is important..I am quoting it here the definition from Wikipedia

May be it would be useful for those who never heard about it like me
You could add little brief like this next time when you post such rare snaps.

Thanks, the photo looks great and your effort in stacking of 25 snaps to make it more effective is really appreciable.

Cheers, Keep steemimg.

Sure I can add a little more to the description you've added, so thanks for that.
And thanks for your kind words!

dude article is great, thank you

Really impressive. Very creative composite. One that can cause quite an impression on any wall.
Fascinating information about Bio-Luminescense, not the kind of natural spectacle one can see every day. What a priviledge to have it as a common occurence in that area.
