Contrasted photo of an Oliebollenkraam in Den Haag

Now, let me get this out the way first... I don't consider myself a photographer by any stretch of the imagination! I take lots of photos of my kids and stuff for STEEM, but I don't really have much of an eye for framing or colour or anything like that... I just point and shoot, and I'm generally happy if it isn't blurry and the thing that I'm aiming at is in the shot!

However, once every now and then... I manage to get something that could be borderline decent by complete accident! This particular shot was done for a Kucoin where we were trying to show off photos of the holidays in our particular towns and cities.

I had the idea that I would take a picture of this Oliebollenkraam on the Spui and the main shopping street that is in Den Haag (The Hague) in Netherlands. It turned out to be a pretty nice contrast between the very colourful Oliebollenkraam and the bleak weather and the gray shopping mall buildings. A little splash of colour in the commercial grayness of Christmas!

Anyway, for those who don't know... the Dutch Oliebollen is like a round fried donut without the hole... so think of a round ball-like donut! It is sprinked (doused...) in powdered sugar and it comes in various varieties... I prefer the Krentebollen where the batter has sultanas (raisins...) all through it for extra sweetness! Nice and crisp on the outside and soft and warm on the inside... they are the best thing for a cold winter day or evening!

This photo was done with the AUTO setting of the One Plus 5 phone... it's was an okay camera for the time (about two years ago...) , but these days it's a bit on the less good side of things... I wish I had the camera from my wife's Pixel 3aXL!
