Travel photo archives: Kennecott Copper, Alaska Part 1: Black and white

in photography •  7 years ago

This would have to be the most spectacular ghost town we have visited to date.

Kennecott, a former copper mining town, is located a few miles out of McCarthy Alaska in Wrangell—St Elias National Park and Preserve.

The old concentration mill build is a wobbly-spooky 14 story monstrosity that clings to the mountainside above the Kennicott glacial valley (The glacier is spelt with an 'i' the town with an 'e' due to a typo back in the day)
