My First Photobook

in photography •  6 years ago  (edited)

A while ago @soyrosa wrote about making a photo book from here "pictures through dirty train windows" photo series (yes i am calling her out so she would do it :D ). So she inspired me to try to make one of my own.

I do have a lot of photos, but making a book of them in a way that will all have sense was not easy. Then i got an idea to make a book from photos taken in Underground Music Club. I photographed a lot there and it would be a great gift for theirs 2 birthday.

About the book:
It is 20x20cm, printed on Epson Lustre paper with hard cover and it has 22 pages. I was not sure about the size but for this type of photos it is just right. My first choice of paper was matte but then i changed my mind and picked lustre to add a bit of gloss.

All i can say is, print your photos, make books, it has a greatly different feel when you can hold them then when you look at them on the screen.

Do you print your photos? Do you like the book? Would you make something different?

@soyrosa rock!!

I had a chance to meet her at SteemFest and I'm happy to see you posting with Dtube :)

I like your photo book, however I don't print photos because I'm extreme minimalist.

Looking forward to your next Dtube Vlog :)

i did not have an opportunity to meet her but sure does looks like she does :D

i was thinking to test the live option. had never done a live video, there is a gig this saturday at Underground so maybe i will test it than.

Thanks for the comment.

Actually the Live function is currently being fixed hopefully it'll get fixed in time for Saturday!

Have a wonderful Thursday :)

<3 It was AWESOME meeting you dear @nathanmars! You're a great guy and I will overcome my shyness and post something on Youtube 'soon'(ish) :D

Likewise darling! It was so lovely meeting you at Steemfest and thank you for being awesome!!

Not YouTube it's Dtube!

Looking forward to it and you can do it and once you post your first vlog like less than a minute video and you'll feel you'll never want to leave because we've such a wonderful people here and they'll make you feel stay with us!

Hahaha - Did I REALLY say Youtube?! Yes I did... :') Funny me.

Yes, I will try one of those 'Snaps', that's a great way to start. Someone told me to record and not look back, just post it ;-) Sounds like a great idea or I will go into endless editing.

See ya soon on DTube @nathanmars!

Haha you did. lol

You're moving fast and I like it and I feel it's coming :)

See you in Dtube!

Woah! I've always wanted to do something like this. I think printing photos for a photographer is kinda like for an architect seeing his project built. So awesome to see this come together and you did a pretty good job designing each page. It's beautiful!

thanks.
i did print some photos in this years but the book is something different. and maybe the reaction of the people that got the book adds to the feeling.

Congratulations on the first book! It looks great!
I do indeed print my photos and yes, looking at printed photos definitely has a different feel than the screen. I know you didn't ask but... I like Blurb for producing books. Once you publish the book, you can set it up so the book can be sold through amazon. They get printed as they sell so you don't have to initially buy a ton of books at once. There's not a ton of profit to books but it's fun to see them sell.
Cheers!

Thanks for the info. Amazon is not really friendly with shipping prices to Serbia :D but i will check Blurb to see how they look on us :)
not sure that this would sell, it was more a memory for my friends and me (maybe if they become famous :) )

Oh, that's a bummer, didn't know that about the shipping prices. But you could sell you next book world-wide, haha!

these are very nice :)
there's always something more about these actual physical photos than digital.

thanks

Congrats on the first photobook! It looks great, awesome theme and I like how you made the layout dynamic and unpredictable. Where did you choose to print it? I've been thinking of making one myself and am now in the long process of choosing the right theme and photos.

thanks. it is more or less a timeline of when photos were taken, maybe tweaked a bit for the color (or lack of one) sheme.
printed at skybookstudio, and they did a good job. there is 2 mistakes in print (looks like smeared paint but it almost unnoticeable).
you have some great street photos, but i can imagine how hard would that be to make a selection :D

I'm soooo late to reply, but you did GREAT on creating your photo book! I love the sheets and colours and pairings of the pictures :-) Looks amazing :D Mine will take more time even, because I will bind them by hand :') Need tools foor that too, lol. But it's still on my mind and it will happen eventually! Winters are great for this :D

Congratulations!

thanks. i know that you want to craft it yourself, it is more personal but it demands a lot more work.
I am happy with the quality, as i was not sure how will it look.
