several Pacific White-sided Dolphins playfully swimming and putting on a show beside the Monte Carlo on our pelagic birding trip last Saturday with Westport Seabirds.
These are the common dolphin species in the north Pacific, though there are several other species seen at times. They often "bow ride" on boats, using the wave coming off the bow while the boat is moving to accelerate and then jump and play. It is really cool.
