Does it snow in Greece?steemCreated with Sketch.

Before two years i traveled to Iceland (but in other cases too with tourists) and one day as i was discussing with an Icelander our talk ended up to what i love discussing about, weather. You can't visit Iceland and not say a word about weather there ...... but our conversation was quite hilarious because the Icelander didnt believe me when i told him that in Greece not only it snows but sometimes it snows a lot, like during past winter.
And what i learned made more enthousiastic, max record for Reykjavik regarding snow accumulation was ONLY 50 cm when there are towns in North Greece where it snows almost every year more than 30 cm. Of course frequency isnt the same, but let me show you some photos of snow from a city nearby Athens
YES Greece is not always WARM

I have come to Greece many times, but only stay on the islands and in summers. And a friend of mine lived there for a long time and had informed me about many things, but not how much snow you have, just the skying era. Maybe I have misunderstood how big the skying era is?

usually between December to mid March but depending on winter, this year mountains had snow till end of May and in the highest one it snowed even on July (quite rare though)

If it can snow in Lebanon, even Irak, sure it can snow in Greece :) But here in Iceland for the last yers ther has been little snow in the South-West, mostly rain, but in the North-East, up to 2 meters deep. That is whery common, Reykjavík is not the right place to comper whith.

sure, Reykjavik is not that cold :-)
