A view of the stars taken in the Ashdown Forest, using an LG G4 Smart Phone and manual settings

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

Two photos I took of the stars using my LG G4 smart phone on manual settings (basically gives you lots of settings to play with, such as white balance, exposure time etc).

The first photo, which you can see far more stars in, was a 30 second exposure, but there were a few wisps of cloud that showed up in the photo.
30 second exposure

I reduced the exposure time to 15 seconds for the second photo and the clouds stand out less but you cannot see quite as many stars.
15 second exposure

Photo taken in the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, England back in March 2016.

great photos! :)

Thank you :) I'm a complete amateur and the light conditions where I live (about 10 miles from Central London) mean my photos normally suffer from way too much light pollution.
Just realised that the photos were not zoomable - have edited the post so they can be clicked for full-res.
Also made a quick "How to" guide for those wishing to embed zoomable/clickable images: https://steemit.com/image/@boarddavid/inserting-zoomable-images-on-your-steemit-post
