Shaoguan - Critters / Viecher

Today there is just a small collection of some critters I encountered at home or on shorter trips near Shaoguan. Didn't really know where to put them.	Heute gibt es nur eine kleine Sammlung von Viechern, die mir in Shaoguan zuhause oder unterwegs begegneten. Wußte nicht so recht, wie ich sie in einen größeren Zusammenhang bringen sollte.

Here's a little rather whitish grasshopper:	Ein recht weißlicher Grashüpfer:

On my balcony there was an unusual visitor that day:	Auf meinem Balkon gab es an dem Tag eine ungewöhnliche Besucherin:

From a different perspective this damselfly (don't know the species) looks a bit like some kind of deep-sea squid (if you ignore the wings):	Aus einer anderen Perspektive erinnert diese Kleinlibelle (Art ist mir unbekannt) leicht an eine Art Tiefseetintenfisch (wenn man die Flügel ignoriert):

Another day, another visitor. This time it's a moth, probably of the family Erebidae:	Neuer Tag, neue Besucherin. Diesmal ist es eine Motte, vermutlich aus der Familie Erebidae:

Then there was one of the ubiquitous drain flies. They grow rather big in China.	& dann war da eine der allgegenwärtigen Schmetterlingsmücken. Die werden in China aber ziemlich groß.

& my nemesis, a mosquito. Shaoguan was the first (& only) place where I had to sleep under a mosquito net.	Meine Nemesis, eine Mücke. In Shaoguan mußte ich das erste & einzige Mal unter einem Moskitonetz schlafen.

Walking around at night I found a northern treefrog (Polypedates mutus) in a small canal beside a pond on the campus of Shaoguan University.	Bei einem nächtlichen Spaziergang fand ich diesen nördlichen Baumfrosch (Brachythemis contaminata) in einem kleinen Kanal neben einem Teich auf dem Campus.

In the same canal a Günther's frog (Hylarana guentheri) provided food for the next generation:	Im gleichen Kanal hatte sich ein Günthers Frosch (Hylarana guentheri) für die neue Generation geopfert:

Another Günther's frog was sitting nearby, probably thinking about whether it was better to procreate or to be food for the young ones.	Ein anderer Günthers Frosch saß in der Nähe, vermutlich darüber nachdenkend, ob er sich lieber selber fortpflanzen oder als Futter dienen sollte.

On a short cycling trip I found another flower of the genus Gardenia. This is not Gardenia vietnamensis as in my last Shaoguan cycling post. Perhaps it's Gardenia jasminoides.	Auf einer kurzen Radtour fand ich eine weitere Pflanze aus der Gardeniafamilie. Dies ist aber keine Gardenia vietnamensis wie in meinem letzten Radel-Post. Vielleicht handelt es sich um Gardenia jasminoides.

There was another kind of scarab beetle on the street, waiting to be squashed:	Auf der Straße saß mal wieder ein Blatthornkäfer, der darauf wartete zerquetscht zu werden:

The next day was dragonfly day. Saw this African bluetail (Ischnura senegalensis):	Der nächste Tag war den Libellen gewidmet. Entdeckte diese Senegal-Pechlibelle (Ischnura senegalensis):

They are quite common in Canton, but hard to photograph. Much less common is the highlight of the day, a female common picture wing (Rhyothemis variegata):	Diese Art kommt in Kanton recht häufig vor, ist aber nicht leicht zu fotografieren. Weniger häufig ist der Höhepunkt des Tages, eine weibliche Rhyothemis variegata (kein deutscher Name?):

The last dragonfly for today is real jewel, a ditch jewel (Brachythemis contaminata) to be exact:	Die letzte Libelle für heute ist ein echtes Juwel, ein Grabenjuwel (Brachythemis contaminata, auch kein deutscher Name) um genau zu sein:

Last not least, there was a strange kind of fly (I suppose) which I could not identify:	Zum Abschluß dann noch eine seltsame Fliege (nehme ich an), die ich auch nicht identifizieren konnte:
