Took My Zeiss For A Walk...

Today I took a lens with me that I hardly use. For one reason or another I keep grabbing my Helios or Pentacons and end up leaving this little gem behind.

It's a Vintage Carl Zeiss Flektogon 35mm f2.4 in M42 mount, just like all the other old manual lenses that I own.

It's a "wide angle", so I bought it mainly for landscape photography, but since I almost stopped shooting landscapes after getting hooked on bokeh, this poor thing kept being left in the bag with almost no use.

For both these shots I photographed normal every day items. Basically I just wanted to test the sharpness, bokeh and contrast properly.

I wasn't so sure about the bokeh but it came up pretty nice. As long you shoot in the closest focus distance. Outside of that area it's not so pretty and creamy anymore, as the background compression seems not to kick in.

This lens was never made with out of focus areas prettiness in mind anyway. It was made to be sharp and contrasty, and it surely shines on those two.
