I do think that human beings have a compulsion to create images that we're never gonna escape. The thing is that digital cameras have allowed us to do it without consequences.
If I fuck up a large format photo, it costs me $20 per frame. If I fuck up a medium format photo, it costs me somewhere between $4 and $2 per frame. Even 35mm carries a weight of potential loss.
But, that's a good thing.
It forces people to be diligent, contentious, and fastidious. You do, and should, always be aware that your actions have consequences.
In a lot of ways, digital photography has mitigated the consequences that people should suffer in regard to image making, and sharing. People in the digital realm don't take the same risks, or suffer the same consequences for operating poorly.
