I pre-ordered this lens just after I got my Sony A7 III and it arrived yesterday. I've barely had time to play with it, but I did a few test shots last night so here are a couple. The one with my son's holding the iPhone is the first shot I took with the lens -- he was filming my unboxing video for sharing later.
Some users have reported auto-focus issues with this lens; so far I've not seen that, so fingers crossed I got a good copy!
Speaking of auto focus, it's interesting to me as I've been using a manual focus lens for the last couple of weeks and really am getting used to changing the aperture on the lens and manual focussing. Now I get to see how good the AF is on the A7 III!
The Tamron lens feels cheap after having used the Zeiss Loxia 35mm f/2 for the past fortnight, and I didn't think that feeling would bother me, but d'you know? It kinda does. I don't want to be a snob though - it's about the images, right? But that Zeiss Loxia lens has me spoiled. It feels so solid and dependable.
At £699, the Tamron really is fantastic value. I was lucky to get the Zeiss Loxia used in mint condition, but even then it was £719.
I'm still figuring out lenses, which to keep and which not to. I've got an 85mm coming and I'm considering a 16mm or 18mm to complete the set. (yeah, right! lol).
