Nice experiment @rorxco!
Did you remove the black coating before or after the developement?
In daylight, it looks like a Tungsten film to me.

btw. the tag #filmphotography is quite activ here...

    We removed the black layer before the developer. I am not sure if otherwise we might get a lot of black on the develovper.
