I came across this tiny flying insect in the back yard, about 5mm long, I just managed to get a couple of photos before it flew away.
South Australia has a number of species of native bees, but checking online photos I couldn't find anything that looked close.
Anyone out there who specialises in insects who might know what it is?
Looks like a ground bee. We called them meat bees as kids. They don't sting, but I can't remember if they bite.

In the U.S they are a bit different but that looks like a yellow jacket.
They live in the ground. Some sting some don't.
