Random photo #1 - kids of Mozambique

in photography •  7 years ago

I recently went on a short-term mission trip to Mozambique. Many of the villages are quite small and very poor. Most of the men are away in the cities trying to earn a living to send some money home to their wives and kids.

Shona and Portuguese are the two main languages spoken in the southern tip of Mozambique. Here is a girl learning English at school. Her school only consists of two classrooms with one teacher running between the two classrooms.

I spent about a month in Mozambique with my wife. For 2 weeks we were visiting friends that live close to Tofo, popular dive spot in Mozambique. They lent us their 4x4 and off we went... It was hear breaking to see the situation that most of the local people live in and heartwarming to see how happy they are despite the lack of infrastructure and... things. Lots of these kids do not go to school and stay with their mommy to work on the fields or sell their produce at the "market"... From our entire trip the people might have been some of the poorest and friendliest! Thanks for sharing.

That is so true! Despite the poverty the people seem to very happy :) Does make your heart warm up a bit :)

Thanks @branislav

This is quite sad and also encouraging to see that despite of poverty, these children never stop trying to learn.
Kudos to your mission team!
(I am still saving up for a mission's trip. Right now my mission is home, for my parents who are yet born again)

Hi @littlenewthings. It is quote sad, but yes, the kids love learning :)
It helps a bit know that God is Sovereign over all...
Yip, the mission field definitely starts at home. I pray the Holy Spirit intercedes and, Lord willing, He brings your parents to the truth :)

Amen. Thank you so much @cheeto.blue for your prayers. That means a lot to me.

Just posted another one of the kids in Mozambique 😉

Good luck to these kids and salute to the teacher!

Was really great to see a teacher who actually cared for them - the teacher even came from the city to work in a rural area :)

What an honorable job as a teacher to those kids.
