Hawaiian Desert

in photography •  6 years ago

The Kona Coast on the island of Hawai'i boasts dry lava fields. Black as night. Proof of the power of Madam Pele, Goddess of Fire.

No active lava flows nor active volcano can be found on this side of the island. Instead, we see the path that Madam Pele took years and years ago. Only the heartiest of plants and animals live here.

For me as a visitor here, I bow to the power of nature. I gaze in awe at the rugged beauty. And I am humbled.
