My Trip to Ireland

When I first was asked if I wanted to go to Ireland I had second thoughts. To be honest I had not really had much exposure to the country or culture. But boy was I amazed when it became my favourite place on earth. The first town we visited after leaving Dublin was Kilkenny.This picture is from the view right by Kilkenny Castle. The town was everything I imagined an European town to be. Small roads, people walking around, and nice non corporate businesses. The worst part was the fact that nobody served drinks with ice in them but I was able to get past by eating next to this river. If you do ever plan to visit Ireland I suggest you grit your teeth and rent a car there. Many people I know from the US would have a very large learning curve getting used to the tiny, windy, and fast roads but there is no better experience seeing a castle like this ones and pulling off to go take a look. There are so many like this and they are not watched over much. It is surreal that these buildings are just strewn across the landscape with no admission fee or people around. This particular castles name was Kilcash Castle. Keeping with the Castle theme here is Ross Caslte in Killarney. While I did state I love the openness about other castles, this one in particular was also fantastic. The inside of Ross Castle is kept exceptionally well and you get a chance to see what these would have been like in their peak.The final location I wanted to share was the Cliffs of Moher. This is by far the most beautiful and breathtaking place I have ever been. Being able to walk just on the edge and look down just added to the experience to me. The cliffs are something everyone visiting Ireland should do. What this trip showed me was that Ireland was more than the Dublin pubs that I had imagined and it was beautiful and field with friendly people.
