This is my daughter Gabi, when she was 4, I believe.
I love this photo and I believe that what makes it special are the catch-lights on her eyes and the bright hair. Catch-lights are extremely important on children's photography. You get them by having a well defined light source in front of your subject. North facing windows a great for this. The hair I achieved by using some local adjustments in Lightroom, like paint the lights with a brush to enhance contrast and definition.
I don't remember the camera but it was likely a Nikon D80 and a 50mm 1.8.
