The beautiful Azure Window as it once was. Captured here in 2016 shortly before its ultimate collapse into the sea below. 
Known locally as Tieqa tad-Dwejra this much loved icon was mourned by many who enjoyed once occasionally or often the majestic frame it offered for stunning sunsets across the sea to Tunisia.
The area has been a favourite for divers also who come to experience the wonder of the Blue Hole diving spot. Some of you may recognise the location as it has been featured in Film and TV production.

Most relevant maybe to the modern reader, the location was used as a filming location for the Dothraki wedding scene in the first season of Game of Thrones. The filming cause a 'controversy' when a protected ecosystem was damaged by a subcontractor.
Hugo Boss shot an advert with Cliff diver David Colturi in 2017 , you may have seen it.
If you google search these locations for images of the filming of Clash of the Titans and Game of Thrones you will see how the arch degraded over time resulting in its eventual and inevitable discovery of its collapse on the morning of March 8 2017 following an overnight storm.
Tieqa tad-Dwejra is survived by the Wied il-Mielaħ another smaller arch or window located further long the coastline towards the Northern part of the island.
