After this Indian peacock popped out from underneath a large opening in an old grey shed at Longstreet Farm this afternoon and then proceeded to ignore me and scurry away, this peahen suddenly appeared on the scene and started to aggressively approach me.
At first I thought: "this is great, it's actually letting me take some nice photos."
But it quickly devolved into it looking more like it wanted to eat whatever it was that it thought I had.
I actually uttered the words "sorry, I don't have anything for you to eat."
I was just about to click the shutter again and then it happened - pop - it cold-cocked my camera lens. And it's a pretty jolting experience when your holding the camera up to your face and it happens!
There was a nice amount of schmutz on the lens but, thankfully, it didn't get damaged.
My bad for not knowing when close was "close enough."

Wow looks like that peacock gave you quite the sneak peak and then some! Never knew there were peacocks in New Jersey. They're beautiful birds.....until they open their mouths lol

Yeah, there are plenty of them, not in the wild, but at certain farms, etc. They can be quite noisy, that's for sure! I have some nice photos of an all white peahen that I took at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey.
