Old Abandoned House in Freehold, NJ

in photography •  7 years ago

In a completely overgrown wooded area, up on a little rise, not far from a Walmart, off of a very busy road in Freehold, New Jersey sits this old abandoned house.

I've known about it for many years, and one chilly and sunny morning last December I finally decided to go check it out.

I parked in the Walmart parking lot and walked a little ways to where I knew this old dilapidated house was hiding.

Even with the minimal growth typical of December, it was extremely difficult to make my way to the house.

It had been cold enough lately for ice to form, but that particular day allowed just enough melting that the climb up the small rise and into the woods was a little tricky due to the muddy and slippery conditions.

And it got more complicated when I realized that there were two people in the house and whom were in the process of leaving as I was arriving. I stopped and remained motionless as I waiting for them to leave and get out of sight.

I won't lie and say that my heart wasn't racing ... it was!!!

After looking at the disastrous inside, I could see how this might be a popular spot for those inclined to engage in certain addictive pastimes.

But, to be quite honest, there is a certain kind of addictive adrenaline rush that accompanies investigation of these old abandoned structures.

That looks so haunted .. I'm not sure why but I like places like this :D @cognoscere

As if Newark isn't dangerous enough...lol. Seriously, when I see places like this you always find yourself coming away with more questions than answers.

Abandoned houses make me sad. But photos are great

You're a brave one @cognoscere. I don't think I would have entered this house after seeing these photos and hearing your story. Going above and beyond for Steemit!!

That really look abandoned from years.

Is this still standing three years later?
