We had the opportunity to visit the Winchester House in San Jose last week while on vacation. No photos of any kind are allowed inside the house anymore, but with working with my tourism group and their PR person, I was given the OK. It's a great tour, but their are so many rooms- you really don't get much time. I found myself shooting and then running to catch up to the group on multiple occasions.
Lionsgate released a movie, 'Winchester', recently starring Helen Mirren as Sarah Winchester, heiress to the Winchester fortune. Legend is that during a séance, Sarah was told that there were spirits wanting revenge for all that were killed by the Winchester guns. The only way to stay safe was to build on to the house non-stop to confuse the spirits. She did this for many, many years- ending up with a maze of hundreds of rooms- stairways to nowhere and doors that opened to brick walls.
nice photography

Very nice photography, especially that first shot. The monochromemonday suits the composition nicely. That's a weird looking doll at the end. Staircases to nowhere sounds like a lot of upkeep...

This house is beautiful but it really creeps me out..all the false stairways make me feel the tension and nerves of the homeowners that lived there.
