PhotoQuotes Day 3: Fall Envelopes Alaska

"Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go." ~Unknown

Welcome to fall in Alaska. There's a crispness in the air and vivid color in the mountains. The tundra shimmers and the birch sway in their golden glow.

Six Mile River's silty glacier waters wind and flow through autumn's majestic beauty. I couldn't resist a stop during the drive from Anchorage to Hope, Alaska to view this scene and attempt to capture its grandeur with my Nikon. Without a doubt, it is one of my favorite drives in all of Alaska, which includes a breath-taking journey along the Turnagain Arm.

A quick stop alongside Tern Lake was a must, as reflections resembled mirror-like glass on this calm, cool Alaskan morning.

A pair of Trumpeter Swans glide along Tern Lake, as if taking in the wonderment before preparing for their winter migration south.

Beautiful shots, fellow Alaskan. @bashadow mentioned this post in a recent one of his, so I had to come over and take a look. I'm familiar with these areas and have even rafted 6 mile a couple of times.

Nicely done. I shoot Nikon as well.

Thank you! Wow, you've rafter 6-mile, eh!? No small feat! I have friends who've shared wild stories from rafting that river.

Yes, it's some pretty exciting fun and I did it in my younger days. All the times I went with a guide, and I only did the third canyon once, which is where the biggest class of rapids are. Once was enough for that part, haha.

I love the drive to Tern lake, and then to Hope. We did the drive about 9/19/17. We come from the opposite end as you, Soldotna to Hope. We also like to take the turn to Seward, Upper Trail Lake about 5 miles down from Tern Lake on the left is another awesome lake for mirror reflections. It is just a small little pull-out easy to miss, some what hard to get to the water and getting harder every year.

Oh how wonderful!
Some of those subtle pull-outs are the best photo ops!

I had to edit my post, My wife reminded me it was Upper Trail lake, not mirror lake. Our post were kind of funny to us, she did not know I was posting and I did not know she was posting a comment on your page and we did within a half hour of each other. I love the reflections we get in the fall on the lakes.

That's too fun!!!! What a coincidence!

Beautiful pictures @cryptonic88 !!
I think we might of seen the same
swans at Tern Lake :-)
We took a trip up that way September
11th and then again on the 19th 2017
One of our fav stops along with upper trail
lake on the way to Seward is another for
great reflections at times. Just past the
hatchery is a little pull out by the lake.
Take care

Oooo yes! I love that stop!
Be well :)
