Before and After Painting a Body for a 1:27 scale Kyosho Mini-Z RC Car

Time for more small scale RC car photos and more specifically how I have custom painted in silver metallic color a body for the Kyosho Mini-Z 1:27 MA-010 AWD chassis and how it originally looks before getting it assembled and painted (the white one). The body I'm using is that of an Audi R8 LMS that is also available in a factory painted version, though a big part of the fun in RC model hobby is to actually paint and make stuff yourself, so I prefer painting the bodies of smaller scale RC cars myself. I have already posted some comparison photos of the Audi body for the smaller 1:43 scale Kyosho dNaNo RC Car that I have also painted myself in electric green color if you are interested...

This is what you get in terms of a blank white body, along with a window and a bunch of small parts that you also need to paint and glue to the main body, so the process of making things from start to finish takes a while, especially if you want to get more creative with the paint job. You need some patience and skill for painting finer details by hand, both you can acquire in time and after a few tries even if you are a complete newbie initially.

At some point in time I'll be showing you the painting process in detail when I get to start painting my spare white bodies you see on the photos...

Is it possible to fit working lights into these? The way my eyesight is going I'd have a tough job doing the detail on something like this

Yes, it is possible to add small LED lights and make it realistic for headlights and taillights with real light. The Audi R8 body in particular is not designed to have lights out of the box, but you can pretty easily modify it to attach me small LED lights as well. There are other bodies with holes where you can directly insert 3mm LED lights for example and connect them to the chassis of the car for the power they need.
