It's made in 1575, well the architecture looks like of yesterday, I sometimes get confused how they made such giant and beautiful structures those days when there weren't that much of resources available, they really were master minds and great artists, we Muslims go to Mosques for prayers and achieve inner peace, hope you achieved inner peace there.

This mosque was restored few times as Mangalia ( old historic name Callatis) and Constanta (Tomis) are actually historical places (cities) ...so much that some buildings in Constanta have to either stop constructing or make a place underneath them with glass ( like in a museum) where people can see archaeologic findings like old pottery .

Yes ...this is a problem I'm afraid...
With the past attacks in Europe many people have a fear ...over Muslims.
But this is not the case in my place witch is a very old part of Romania called Dobrogea.
Here people know the difference between a Muslim and a extremist.
In 2 Mai witch is my village we have:

muslims (both turkish and ancestors of Gingis Han -Tatari--witch is Mongolo-turco-turanic origin)
lipoveni ( Ortodox old rite of slavic origin -me included)
romi (gypsy people ), they are of Ortodox religion
full romanian 100% of different birth place like moldoveni, olteni,
maghiar (romanian with hungarian origin)

Yeah so all that is just in my little village of 2248 people. (last count in 2002)

We live and function as a good oiled machine ...and we have a good understanding of one and the other.
I really hope that the rest of the world...will understand too...

The mosque though looks good on the outside and that garden around it is fantastic. In other circumstamces it would have been great to visit it in the inside.
There's a small entrance fee - I think 5 Lei. The mosque is easy to find, and I can't say the latter for the ancient archeological ruins which should have been nearby, but nobody could guide us properly in English for the direction.

You make a very good point @jahangirwifii!

We have places full of history in my country but not all the places can have a guide . This issue was discussed by our government but I do not know when they will implement a change.
The popular places of Romania have a English guide but still there a lot room for improvement.
For example in Bulgaria there are many places where they accept RON as a currency and for Romanians this is great. Even some of the restaurants have the menu in Ron and local currency.
We could have something similar...and it can be a very good improvement.

Marvelous! It's a historical and well maintained mosque. The inner view is more glorious and imposing. I am sure you enjoyed your visit to it. I can say it will be your memorable visit. Your last photo is a bit blurry! Were you walking while the photo was captured?

Mosque is a holy place.
When we pray in the mosque , we feel peace in mind.
By the way this mosque was so much beautifull.
It was anciant but well decorated.

The Esmahan Sultan Mosque in Mangalia is the oldest Muslim cult site in Romania that was built in 1575.

Oh.. It's too ancient. But seems well maintained there. Surrounding area so beautiful. You've most walk experience @cynetyc.

Ah nice of you to visit a mosque cause nowadays most people think bad about muslims and would think teice before entering, the history is rich and i am a muslim too and would very much love to visit that place as it also harbors history.love this post and you also made a good example.

he Esmahan Sultan Mosque from Mangaliais one of the most important historical and religious monuments of southern romanian seaside. The muslim place of worship was built in 1573 by the daughter of one of the greatest rulers of the Ottoman Empire, Selim II, in memory of his father.

Beautiful & Historic mosque which is almost 340 years old. Nice to see it's in good shape. It is a great effort of government and Muslim community to make mosque in such a nice condition.
