Pilanesberg Before The First Rains Series - Part Two

I once got invited to a hunting trip. I never thought I would ever shoot a buck... for many reasons. But there's something spiritual and primal about hunting your own food.

What it really taught me was about opportunity. You hide out and wait for hours... and you literally have a few seconds during those hours to take your shot; when it's gone, it's gone. It's such a small window of opportunity, you don't really have time to think - it is like your subconscious takes over, and yields to a higher power.

I have no issue with people who hunt. I have never personally, and have had the opportunity to. Maybe I should.

I totally understand what you mean. Being a photographer and a hunter in the wild is very similar. When you "shoot", in both instances, you are looking for the perfect moment. It demands you to be focused in and on the present on both occasions too, and being in the present can be a very connected, spiritual experience. I totally get what you are saying. It's an incredible power.
