"I love Shanghai" is a phrase often seen in Shanghai. It's one of those places where you have to go before you understand the actual meaning of what people tell you about their experiences living or going there. It's sort of mystical in that way. But it's just such an amazing melting pot of different cultures and different impressions that you will only understand If you go there yourself.
