Guizhou Miao pt. 1

Hello fellow Steemians, I'm back! After having looked through my images and deciding on another adventure to share with you, I've decided that you should see a completely different part of the world: China.

This is Part 1 in a short series on the Miao people of Guizhou, China. If you enjoy it, please like and share the images so others can enjoy it as well, and as always, thank you for your support!

The beginning. Guiyang, Guizhou.

Our Journey begins in Guiyang, capital city of Guizhou. Although considered a 3rd tier city in China, at almost 4.5 million people, the population of Guizhou is more massive than most US cities. A portal to the Miao people, Guiyang is usually just a pass-through point for most tourists traveling through south-west China, although it's a nice place in and of itself.

A bit off the beaten tourist path, Guiyang tends to be relatively unknown to foreigners, but among the Chinese, the city has a reputation for it's night street food scene. When the sun goes down, the markets open up and people begin to gather on the streets and the tents go up.

The smells of different foods begin to wander in the wind, filling your senses with delight as the various sights and smells mingle throughout. The streets all but shut down in certain areas, as entire neighborhoods come out to enjoy a variety of local delicacies, most delicious, but, admittedly, some quite odd.

It'll be a pleasant evening in Guiyang, where we fuel up for the adventure that takes us out to explore the countryside and it's people.

Lots of good-looking food.

There really is a ton of good stuff to eat there. It's just a shame I can only eat so much before going into a food coma. Heh.
