Penguin Highway. Antarctica.

Part 18 in my Journey to Antarctica. If you enjoy the stories and photos, please comment and let me know!

PDS_4752.jpg

It's rush hour on the Penguin highways in Antarctica. Leading them to and from their nests, the penguins waddle their way down these efficient routes until they find a problem, usually in the form of another penguin heading in the opposite direction.

PDS_4750.jpg

They would sit in place , pretending the other wasn't there. Ignoring each other to have a battle of wills, until finally one gave in or got bored and decides to climb the snow bank on the side.

On and on the highways go. From the tips of hills to the ocean itself.

With the amount of traffic they are getting on these highways, they'll soon have to add a lane.

Very good post @dandoval ! Every time when I look at penguins I remember the Madagascar movie when they are shown as a group of gangsters .

Thanks! They are really funny creatures, actually. The way they waddle.

They are very cute)

They really are!

This is likely the closest I will get to taking that trip, so thanks! tip!

I love penguins, they are amazing and special animals for the theme of monogamy. I did not understand why they walked so many km? I do not know if they should spend time out of the water.

Well, they spend most of their lives in the water, but must come out for breeding.

I like it this post

Im glad to hear that!

Penguins are one of the most beautiful animals in the world. Just look how clean and proper they look wow

Penguins are awesome... So Cute... :)

Hey! Another amazing post! I just posted another Voyage into my life journey. Check it out! It's about my travels across the world! I've also been to the artic! Hope you like it!

From what I understand, there are very few animals in Antartica nowadays. That is amazing considering the fact that this continent was once not in the 'deep freeze' that it is in now at the South Pole. Like your photos.Thank you!

There are very few animals for a place that size, but at the same time, there is lots of life in the water, especially considering the extreme weather.

Interesting!

theyre so adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, @dandoval! Amazing photos. Experiencing the Antarctica must be a dream come true!

It absolutely was. I hope you keep tuned in to see more!

Oh yes, I will :)

Really enjoying looking at your work :)
It's my dream to go there. Did you find a scientists expedition to lower your travel cost ? Or did you pay the hard price ?
Enjoy this beautifull place not yet detroyed by humans

I was actually on assignment shooting people for travel brochure. I got extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful trip with these very touching people. Your photos are magnificent

Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that.

That's so beautiful - how does one even get to Antarctica? :-D

Well, if you read the previous posts, you can find out! Heh.

Haha ok will do :) following you

I would die to photograph these little guys!

Its much more satisfying to do it while living, though, dont you think? ^_^

What can I say? @dandoval, your pictures are fantastic, I opened your article and after the first shot my fingers jumped to the follow button, then upvote, can't wait to see more. I love photography, although I only have my phone to shoot with!( One day I'll save to get a camera again!)

Thank you. I really appreciate you saying that. I really hope to hear more of what you think of the following photos and also the next story I'll be starting.

Upvoted!!

I take pictures too, I did 2 recent posts on Prague and Cambodia and an older one with a summary of few places.

I would love to hear what you think about them if you have time!

@belgarath

You have some really nice shots that could do with a little more processing in my opinion, but your posts look good!

Thank you very much! What would you advise for processing? Any software and guide?

Amazing pics!!! Thank you for sharing!! I love penguins, they are so clumsy and perfect at the same time * ___ *
Have a great journey!!!
Best wishes :D

Thank you! They really are clumsy on land, but in the water, they are incredible!

Professional record!! Very good @dandoval!!

Thank you! I'm super excited about it!

Just discovered your excellent blog on Steemit. Following!
How long did you spend in Antarctica?

I spent almost 3 weeks on a ship for the whole trip. Antarctica itself was only about 3.5 days.

It is an extreme place to visit. I read that the researchers working in Antarctica are themselves being studied, as it is the closest conditions we have to what life would be like on a Mars base.

Sweet

Very nice picture. One question. Where do you sleep in the Antarctica? Tent? Other accommodation?

Ah. That will be a little bit of what I talk about in the next post or two. Stay tuned!

Penguin, Antarctica... another world! Interesting! Thanks!

The next post is all about "another world". Hope you stay tuned in!

Amazed seeing those pictures.. Thanks for sharing dan..!!.

Penguins are beautiful. I've watched them pick the most shiny pebbles to give to their mate, they are lovely creatures. Great photo's!
