a Solitary fisherman floats a mile high under a huge Volcano

in photography •  8 years ago

A fisherman crosses the water just after sunset in front of a huge volcano on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.

This huge volcano is called "Volcan San Pedro", it is on Lago de Atititlan in Guatemala. This might be the most beautiful lake on earth. If you get to Guatemala, head up into the mountains and have a look.

The lake is 1100 feet deep and was formed in a ancient caldera and is a mile high, it is surrounded by several volcanoes.

Amazing capture, I love the soft light and the boat just at the corner of the frame, just forces you to look at it.

Agreed! It also gives you an idea of the scale of mountain and lake.

I see that volcano every day from my house. The lake, the volcanoes, the mountains, and the people make Lake Atitlán a beautiful place to live, once you get away from the crowds.

I was there for a couple weeks twice. I completely loved it there. I look forward to my third visit.

Nature is so soothing and rejuvenating for the soul. Nice job!
