A 35mm B&W film photography selection, based on my recent fascination with yellowed film and the simple moody beauty of this style, developed and printed by me in the dark room.
Like most of my 35mm camera work these are not bombastic, instead they are subtle and dynamic in the small details and the highlighted yellow contrasts.
I find that these 35mm shots speak with a very different voice than do my digital shots, especially with the uncommon yellow tint they have been given.
These are scans of the negatives. In scanning some richness and detail was lost (I have only any entry level scanner and will eventually pay to get them wet scan with a multi thousand dollar scanner)) I am still grateful for the scanner and being able to share them this way.
All of these images were shot in Minneapolis, MN. The camera I used on all of these is an old Canon EOS 35mm with a Sigma walk around zoom. They have been primarily shot on very old, intentionally low quality, Czech film that I bought from Freestyle Photographic Supply for $1 a roll(check them out).

At first glance I thought #9 was cigarette ash. It was a fun perspective shift when I realized it was concrete. :P

Yah, I love that as well. I can show you the original print as it is much higher in resolution than the scan since you are in my town now.

Love 1 and 11, very eerie and looking at them makes me feel I like something is about to happen. 1 especially is like being in a Hitchcock film.

I might be weird, but the effect you applied to these photos invokes death from the viewer's perspective .. like being passed away and looking upon what you photographed.

interesting take, I always enjoy hearing what comes to different people. I can see what you mean. It isn't what I intended but that is okay.

Ah $1 film rolls. Did you ever hit up Golden Photo in Golden Valley? The owner sold cheap film for a dollar there, and would hook you up with some good deals too. I miss that place, and the owner.
I have a bag of old ass expired film (mostly color) that I want to shoot, and not take too seriously, but I still haven't done it. The development should be cheap but I still haven't figured out an economical way of getting scans or prints. I suppose I could just get a caddy for my crap printer/copier scanner... but it's not very good at scanning either.

Getting any type of film on this island is difficult, certainly not like going in a store and getting some. Last time I got some expired Provia and Velvia from somebody it was like 5 or 6 years ago, and they were expired THEN! lol should shoot them and see what happens, they have been in the fridge since then.
Nobody here develops film commercially anymore, but I have a home kit for colour that I haven't cracked open yet. Haven't taken any film photos in a while.

There used to be a place around town that offered wet scanning with a super high res scanner. These were all scanned in with an Epson base level photo scanner with a caddy, better than a combo scanner but maybe not by much. There is a lot of room for improvement with all of my scans.
I never heard of Golden Photo. To bad I missed it. I did any local shopping at West Photo and National, I had a friend who worked at national and he got me some deals. In the end ordering from Freestyle has always been the least expensive.
