On September 3rd, we went to see the hot air balloons take off from Ann Morrison Park in Boise, Idaho.
I had never been to one of these events, so did not know what to expect.
These events happen early in the morning because that's a good time for the balloons to take off.
If they were to launch any later the atmospheric conditions would not be right.
In the beginning, as teams started to set up, there was a feeling of anticipation and it was kind of boring, actually.
But soon, the teams jumped into action and started working, all at the same time to get their balloons in place and then to get them inflated.
There were some memorable balloons, like the Darth Vader balloon and even a Yoda balloon.
As they inflated and then got swept up in the morning breeze, it was pretty exciting to see them clear nearby trees and other obstacles, since the balloon pilots can really only control whether the balloon goes up or down.
In the end, we had a great time at this event and it was definitely worth getting up early on a Saturday morning to witness the spectacle and the fun!
