As we made our way southward on the Icefields Parkway, the next stop was at the Columbia Icefields. The Icefields are so massive that they are actually viewable from space! Coming in at 325 square kilometres in area (125 sq miles) and 100-365 metres in depth (330-1,200 ft).
The Ice Explorer tours are the thing to do once your there. The tour consists of a ride in a huge "bus like" all terrain vehicle right onto the Glacier itself, where you can exit the vehicle and walk around on the ice, it's pretty cool!
Here are some pictures from our last trip.

So....did you get out and walk on that ice? nervous here thinking about that......

On that particular trip we did not go on the ice, but did so a few years earlier, its actually quite safe (at least that's what we were told!) thanks @countrygirl!
