Passing by, I didn't think there were any puddles to catch this beauty in Boston Common. But then I found one! It's the Parkman Bandstand, a structure erected over the old cow pond in the Common. The pond was filled in 1830. It was designed by MIT trained architect Shepard, of Derby, Robinson & Shephard. I can't find his first name at present.

I had read he designed it and took heat because he was accused of using his position on the park board to get his own design approved. They were paid $20,000, and the structure cost $1,000,000. It was used as a refreshments stand for some time, and was renoved in the late 1990s. It has served as the site of several major speeches, including one with Barack Obama and Deval Patrick in 2007.

I hope you like it!
