Steemit Photo Challenge Entry No.15 -- Spiderwebs -- A Cold Wet Day Indeed

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

This poor spider is looking like he/she's had a better day. But I came by the next day, and he/she was still hanging around, doing his or her thing. (I actually think it is a she, as the males are a generally much smaller by comparison.) ( Then again, like apples and other fruits, what is big and what is small by comparison, is difficult without the other to look at. So nevermind. ) Either way, it looks cold.

Nice shot! Upvoted, followed and resteemed.

Thanks for the support, I appreciate the upvote and resteem. I'm getting the hang of this site, and it sure is fun. Plus, gives me an excuse to run around in the rain and take pictures.

Wow. Very nice shot

Thanks. I appreciate the support. These challenges are fun, a reason to get out and take some photos of things like this.

Ya, last weeks challenge of Autumn foliage had me out and about looking for some trees. Here in Southern California, we don't experience that as much as they do back east, but it got me out, and actually I came out of it with some great shots of other things. So, all in all, a good day.

I would imagine it is hard to get great color there, especially with the drought taking it from late season green to brown at light speed. But just getting out and shooting is great, and like you, I usually end up shooting everything else in all directions, running out of light before card space. The joys of photography.

Nice contrast and light on the dewdrops, tack-on sharpness all make this photo awesome! Following you now, best of luck in the challenge and welcome to Steemit :)

Thanks so much. It was a gray day... no doubt my subject being half frozen helped to make it possible in lower light. Less movement...though they don't jump around all that much on a warm day, compared to a mouse or other mobile creature. Sometimes nature lends a hand to we photoists. Thanks for following. I appreciate the support.

This is mighty awesome!!! Great lighting and clarity, composition and focus. And it led me here. Upvoting and following you!

Thanks for the kind words, as well as upvote and follow. The spider was very cooperative, being a cold, wet, captive audience. Definitely helps.

I find that bugs and other creatures love to have their picture taken. They actually pose and look straight into the lens if you come in peace. Resteeming this too.

Thanks for the re steem. The bugs, et al are a fun and interesting lot. This past summer I had a praying mantis watching my every move.

Oh my gosh, I think this is the best photo yet for the challenge! I hope you win!

Wow, thanks a lot for the nice support. I must admit it would be nice to win sometime, but regardless, it's great to have the challenge as a motivation to do more photography. There is a lot of great work in the PC each week, that's for sure. It all inspires. Thanks again.

Fantastic photo with great focus and use of light on the water.
Being a portrait of a spider and not a web it should win easy. :)
Only kidding after last week. great to get back to the challenge.

Howdy. Thanks so much. The compliments go out to the spider, a very static subject. I was new on here during last week's challenge, but saw some of that discussion. I attempted to add a bit of levity to the situation this time with a third, humorous challenge entry, but didn't get any comment/response. Hopefully I didn't hit a never there, as it was all intended in fun. I included the link here, if you want to check it out. Have a nice day. Entry three

Nice job

Thanks for the compliment and support.

I think this is the best photo for the challenge!!As much as i hate and afraid of them your photo is awesome!!!

Thanks alot for the nice words and support. Most of them are harmless and friendly, but I suppose that doesn't help much if they give you the willies. And they make good subjects for photos, particularly when cold and not moving fast.
