Rescue at Mt. Whitney

in photography •  7 years ago

Back in May I spent a day around Mt. Whitney and while up in a military Chinook CH-47, took a couple pics with my iPhone. The first is of the mountain range as I was landing at Lone Pine Airport.

The second pic was taken while setting down about 2/3 of they way up toward the summit. Probably around 10,000 elevation.

The third pic is a nice scene shot from the air of the snow and trees.

And finally I have to include the incredible flying machine with a special thanks to the awesome U. S. Army flight crew!!!

Thanks!!!

Awesome shots of this beautiful area

Flying in a helicopter is such a cool experience isn't it lucky to have had a few flights in them over the years

Sweet pictures, love the big chopper.

Cool photos. What's the story with the rescue?

We were looking for a missing hiker. Unfortunately the hiker separated from others and took a fatal fall. Very sad for the family. Many searchers from dozens of Ca counties participated in the search. It's always amazing to see these volunteers in action. Unfortunately the results do not always turn out the way we hope!!!

It's always a hard time when a life is lost so innocently. It's nice to hear about the other part of California. When you hear of locals & strangers working together trying to help.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I like your 395 pics. Following you!

Great shots, and story of volunteerism. I just wish they had a better outcome.Hope to see more!
