Bamboo - Old Quarter Hanoi.jpg

The Old Quarter is like walking back in time. I could compare it to Hoi An. The buildings retain their original features with some of the streets restricting vehicles, allowing you to walk around not having to worry about dodging motorbikes!

Everywhere you look there's an opportunity to take a photo.

You will find the streets packed with people from all over the world, drinking beer on the streetside, enjoying delicious food or just seeing the sights.

It's well known for commerce, with streets dedicated to particular trades. In my photo, this street is known for Bamboo.

They make anything from ladders to smoking pipes that you can stick your tobacco in!

I'll be sharing a few more posts from Hanoi over the next few days.

If you've been to Hanoi, what did you like most??

Keep it real
Derek

When thinking of my Hanoi, I can remind me of the coffee shop, the food along the street, the beautiful range of tree in Lang Street, in Hoang Dieu Street and Ba Dinh square at night:) Especially the smell of Hanoi, it's totally different with other places :)

Hanoi is a special place, I can't wait to come back and explore more.

The simplicity of life...

Exactly, doesn't have to be hard.

It's the best thing, to take pictures anywhere you look there's a story, there's a moment you can capture in a photograph.

Yes, every photo has a story.

Good post

What a good photo, it really impresses me how many people with so little are so happy attached to their work routine, they with bamboo and many others with any other small job where they give everything

Thanks Jesus, the people in Vietnam are typically hard working.

I loved Hanoi. Such great fun....my favorite bit was crossing the streets. Somehow it just worked...although i'm still amazed i didn't get run over. Just don't stop.

haha, it's always fun crossing the streets here.

It's an amazing place to just walk around and soak up the history :)

Man I just love Vietnam. Only been there once but it reminds me a lot of my country, Philippines. There's just something about living in a more provincial setting rather than the hectic and busy city life.

Such a beautiful city!

Your images take me right back there. These are very artistic.
What I liked best about Hanoi was the lake with it's mysterious legend turtle and the Rickshaws. The area near the Opera House was very pretty too and the night market has the best delicacies I have had in all of Asia.
