Continuing my butterfly theme this week today with a couple of closeups and tighter crops. I had images of several butterflies to choose from, but none felt as suited for extreme closeup as the Skippers (Pelopidas sp.). There’s over 3500 species so I’m not gonna bother with trying to identify this specific one but anyone who knows feel free to comment! With stubby features and smaller wing ratio than other “true” butterflies they are ideal for a tight crop and I have to say they almost look like a tiny teddybear with wings up close! Another thing that made this guy ideal for closeup macro was the fact that it was transfixed on a bird turd that it was sucking on so intently it barely noticed I was there through quite a few shots and angles.🤢🤣 This is one rare time I wish I had shot to allow for focus stacking. I think the extreme crop particularly would’ve looked cool stacked, but I really like it showing depth of field like this so I’m happy with the result.😊
