Christmas images at home and abroad

We want to wish all Steemians, friends and family a merry Christmas and share some pictures from our Christmas town, Kristiansand (Norway).

Since middle of November our town has been decorated and we start preparing for Christmas. Kristiansand is situated at the southern tip of Norway - a city with just over 90,000 inhabitants, In the town center, all the streets were equally wide and together they form a quadrature of approx. 1 km. x 1 km. This city pattern has been practically unchanged from the foundation in 1641until today.

In the center of this quadrature we have the town square, surrounded by the cathedral, the city park and the town hall. The square has significant traditions as a trading place for peat trader. During the summer, the square is still a place where you can buy flower bouquets, fruits and vegetables.

Every year the look of the square will change from mid November. The fruit vendors are replaced with small stalls selling everything from edible Christmas candy to Christmas gifts. It is also in the middle of the square the city's Christmas tree is raised.

A skating rink is erected in front of the town hall. Popular place for big and small and will be here for as long as the weather permits.

It is always nice to visit other cities in the pre-Christmas period. Exciting with the different traditions each country has. This year I spent a week in Spain. Granada's Christmas market had a lot to offer which I think was something special! The most amazing and definitely something I have never seen before is the Christmas cribs ..... Here there is something for everyone.
