Small villages in Bosnia

When you visit small secluded villages in Bosnia it feels like you stepped into a time machine and landed in time passed one hundred years ago. Everywhere you look you will see something ancient and worth to be presented in museum exhibit.

Many people left those tiny settlements, some because of job prospect, some because they don't see better future there. Roads leading to these jems from the past are neglected and ruined, waiting for better days and someone to repair them.

There are still few old people who refuse to leave their place of birth. Love everything that surrounds them and don't complain.

When you come to visit you will be welcomed and treated like a best friend, doors are never locked, old mothers are hoping every day that children will knock and brightened their day.

And yes you can still find outside toilet, and use it just like our ancestors did many, many years ago.

People living in big urban areas are slowly but surly losing touch with their surroundings and nature. Visiting villages like this is kinda romantic and anti stressful, calms you down inside and out.

Hi...nice photos and well written. That's the same feeling I got when I went...though I went to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Wow what a history. I visited Medjugorje!

Thank you dear, yes some places there are really secluded, but I still love them... Medjugorje is popular destination, but these tiny settlements are seriously isolated, you have to walk up hills for a long time to get to them.

Wow!!

Such a great post and wonderful photos B&W works well to give a back in time feel to these places

Thank you dear, they are isolated but I love them!

I love them as well visiting them is like going to a simpler and in many ways better time

Very atmospheric shots. It is a shame that such a beautiful country was plagued by quite recent war. How things are now?

It is peaceful but tensions still exist, I hope some day everything will be fogoten and forgiven.

Fingers crossed.

Wonderful images that really tell the story of love of place. The b&w is so appropriate Di. Beautifully captured.

Thank you dear! You always have beutiful comments which make my day!

I was born in one of those villages and you are right, there are only old people left. Everyone in our village has one of those shit houses too :D

But those houses have their own beauty.

haha I don't mean the houses where people live in, I mean the toilets outside of the house where people take a shit^^

Hahahahhahaha
