It seems that the flat Earth theory has just gained new evidence - or almost. A woman in Florida used her iPhone to take pictures, but a "flaw" in the device created an image that turned out to be a viral one.
The photo was captured last Wednesday when a guy named Bobby and his friend were in a boat on the St. John's River in Jacksonville, Florida. The owner of the set, wife of Bobby's friend, was standing at the dock and took the pictures as the boat started to follow its path in the water.
In reviewing the photos later, they were surprised to discover that one of them ended up appearing like this:
The bizarre photo makes it seem like they were both navigating for an inevitable dive in the "end of the world". After sharing on Reddit, the image became a viral and quickly hit the front page.
At first, Bobby thought the iPhone's camera was defective, but people on the Internet soon gave a better explanation of how this image came about. Somehow, the wife seems to have accomplished the feat of activating the widescreen mode of the iPhone while using the camera in portrait orientation. After starting a vertical exposure, she may have turned the iPhone 90 degrees to take another photo in landscape orientation, all while the panorama was still being created.
In other words, she held the iPhone in portrait mode, pressed the button to take the picture, but actually began the panorama picture, and then turned the phone immediately to try to take a second image.
Regardless of whether this explanation makes sense or not, it must be very unlikely that this effect can be reproduced purposely.

What this guy is saying actually makes sense if the iPhone was in fact in Panorama Mode. We may actually try to reproduce this photo or something similar to see if what these guys are saying is true or not.
