We were lucky to catch a beautiful day in Bingen at the Rhine river

Moving focus from crypto and infosec to enjoy the moment...

Our walk starts right at the quay of the Ferry to Rüdesheim.

Our dogs love it here because there's so much to see and sniff for them.

On the other side of the Rhine in some distance there is the Niederwalddenkmal located besides and over Rüdesheim.

You can faintly make out the chair lift going up from

Rüdesheim to the Niederwald.

The monument was constructed to commemorate the founding of the German Empire in 1871 after the end of the Franco-Prussian War. The first stone was laid on 16 September 1871, by Kaiser Wilhelm I (William I). The sculptor was Johannes Schilling, and the architect was Karl Weißbach. The total cost of the work is estimated at one million gold marks. The monument was inaugurated on 28 September 1883. The 38 metres (125 ft) tall monument represents the union of all Germans.

Wonderful to see everything blooming on this sunny day.

Even though there are a lot of people walking here enjoying the scenery it's calm and the sound of ships going by with their big, low rev, diesel engines is almost soothing.

You can find little themed parts of the park...

Here on the Bingen side of the Rhine they have some sculptures

on display like this man on a pillar.

... and yes it's beautiful!
There are so many beautiful spots along the Rhine river. I've dismissed it for a long time because as a kid every visit we made here was the typical US tourist rushing through all the "hot spots" like the "Drosselgasse" in Rüdesheim, buying Hummel figurines as gifts for family at home and so on thing.
That kind of stuck with me or possibly even traumatized me (???), Hahaha!
The bigger the distance to these childhood trips gets - a nicer way of saying I'm so much older now - I can enjoy this to the fullest! ... without buying Hummel figurines... at least not now... you catch my drift? Hahaha!

Great
