Hiking at The Golden Gate. (Day 1)

We started out at the bottom by a river and header up to some caves. It was a steep slope up to the caves over a really short distance which made things tough. IMG_20171020_082048.jpg

Once we had gotten to the top runners were running past us on these mountains, we thought they were crazy, but they thought the same about us with our huge backpacks.

After a short break we went along the mountain side to get across a gorge that split between the 2 mountains. Once in the crossing we were able to see some lovely rock formations and vegetation.

IMG_20171020_111610.jpg Once we got onto the other side on the gorge, we could see some chain ladders leading to, what we think is, a cave. So far the hike had been quite a challenge with all the steep hills, but the views were breathtaking, as you can see.

Nearing the end of day one, we were all very tired and our feet were quite sore, but happily we said that we would do it all again if we had to.

Wow, South Africa is simply stunning. It must be a breathtaking experience.

Do you know if that's sandstone? And for me as a climber that looks like a lot of potential. ;-) Do you know by chance anything about the Golden Gate Highlands National Parks policy about climbing or if there is any developed area?

Hey cool community project. It is sandstone. I don't think they have any climbing trails or roots, I am also not sure about their policy of climbing.

Thank you!

Hm.. That's a pitty, because these rock formations look incredible! But of course you have to repect nature and ask the people around there before you go out!

Nice shot , This is also brave work that require energy ,courage, enthusiasm and it can't be done without determination. To cut the long story short bravo and keep it up. Am expecting you to eat deep and bring us some adorable images

Starting out on a hike is interesting but tiring at the end.I guess you should allow a few days interval before continuing so that you do not break down before the last day. The pictures are wonderful, i am amazed by them, they have a touch from an expert, kudos sir

Great pictures...
Will be great if you'll follow me as well, as I'm planning of writing about my travels soon.
